Background: My friend Dean is a 34-year-old disabled Black man from Washington, DC. He was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in 2019. He has been struggling with chronic food insecurity and the malnutrition has led to further issues with his bones, blood pressure, and bladder. He currently has stable housing but spent much of 2020 housing insecure.
In April 2020 he was in a car accident that left him with broken ribs and severe back injury
(the last picture in this post is from April 2020, of him in the
stretcher right after the accident). He went on disability benefits
after the accident. In October 2020 he came down with COVID-19 and spent 3 weeks in hospital, but fortunately made a full recovery.
The situation: Dean’s benefits expired in January and the process of reinstating them will take 3 to 6 months. That means Dean has zero income
right now. He also doesn’t have health insurance coverage. Right now
his goal is to raise $900 for his living expenses while his benefits are
paused.
Donations will go to rent/utilities, medical bills
and medication costs (including metformin (fourth pic) and insulin for
his diabetes), and the fresh food Dean needs for his health to
stabilize. He’s had to go days without eating at times which is very
dangerous for him.

Since the referendum in Russia has approved of Putin’s changes to Constituition, letting him stay in power until 2035, redefining marriage as “union of man and woman” and the government literally having talks about banning rainbow and comparing rainbow flags to nazi symbolism, it’s not been great for the LGBT+ community here.
In addition to that, we had the awful “Gay Propaganda” law since 2013 and the number of hate crimes towards LGBT+ Russians has increased greatly since then, and it’s likely to increase even more now.

Yesterday I got kicked out of my house by my homophobic family because someone close to me told them that I was queer. It’s really hurtful because I was betrayed by close friends and then rejected immediately by my family.
I came back and most of my stuff was still in the house except for a few pieces of clothes and personal items, they won’t let me back into the house and I’m scared of being assaulted. My friend offered to let me stay with them for a few days, but after that I’ll be effectively homeless with no money, food, or shelter.
I’m trying to figure out what to do and trying to contact as many people as I know who may let me stay with them, but I’m very scared and uncertain.

The cheapest room I can find is around 70 bucks a night, I need to be out of my friends house by the 4th and so I need to stay somewhere from the 4th to the 14th when it’s my payday. I need 710 just to cover the price of a room. This doesn’t include food but I can use my overdraft for that and go hungry for a while.
So far, I’ve collected 95.11 out of 710. I get paid on the 14th and my pay cheque should be about 300/400 dollars which is good for another weeks stay. My uni friends have offered me a place at their rental starting September 2nd until I can get back on my feet. today we woke up in brazil to this news: a black woman were working through the quarentine as a maid and had to bring her five year old child to work. her boss sent her to walk the dogs and the woman left her children with her boss. the boy started to cry cause he wanted his mom and the woman gets annoyed by him cause she was really busy doing her nails. so, she PUTS A FIVEYEAROLD KID ALONE in a elevator so he could go to his mom. The boy gets lost in the building and end up in the ninth floor, where he falls on the interspace NINE FLOORS and DIE.
his murder, his mother boss, who is white and hid her face from the papers, paid the bail and gets free. this is brazil. a motherfucker place which sells the ideia of being such a nice country, where everyone is warmful and caring; but in reality are really a place grown by structural racism and violence, with a uneven justice system. we need to make justice to this little boy. it was literally a cold blooded murder and his murder can’t just pay a bail and walk away. HIS LIFE MATTERED!!!! WE ARE NOT GOING TO KEEP IT QUIET ANYMORE
